Degree Progress

Students must complete the following requirements within one calendar year of declaring their major. Some students may need to take courses during Summer Session to meet these requirements. At the end of the year, students who haven't met the requirements must either declare another major or meet with an academic advisor to determine if the student's performance in the courses merits an additional semester to complete.

Requirements for AE, ME, EE, CE, ChE, CompE, Engr, and CompSc majors

  • First-time freshmen: Grade of C or better in MATH 122 within one calendar year.
  • Transfer students: Grade of C or better in MATH 123 and PHYS 151 within one calendar year.

Requirements for ET, Comp ET, E ET, M ET, and CEM

  • First-time freshmen: Grade of C or better in MATH 111 & 113 within one calendar year.
  • Transfer students: Grade of C or better in MATH 122 within one calendar year.

Requirements for BA Engr Systems majors:

  • First-time freshmen: Grade of C or better in MATH 111 & 113, and PHYS 100A within one calendar year.
  • Transfer students: Grade of C or better in MATH 122 and PHYS 100A&B within one calendar year.

Faculty advisors and the Engineering Student Success Center's Academic Advisors can help assess your degree progress. You can also track your progress on MyCSULB's Degree Planner and Academic Requirements Report, which are tools to help plan your schedule and ensure you're on track toward graduation.
