Dr. Hsun-Hu Chen
Dr. Hsun Chen is currently a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Chen received her BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng-Kung University, MS degree in Power Mechanical Engineering from National Tsing-Hua University and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She joined CSULB in 1985. Dr. Chen is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, an Aircraft Icing Specialist of SAE Aircraft Icing Subcommittee. She received the CSULB Distinguished Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award in 1993. Dr. Chen has been involved with research activities in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including the aircraft icing problem, boundary layer transition and stability analysis, calculation of low Reynolds number flows, and aeroelastic analysis. She has more than 30 year's experience in CFD and program coding.
She has worked on the CCDoTT (Center for Commercial Deployment of Transportation Technologies) project to develop CFD tools with applications in deign and optimization of ship hull forms. She has also worked on the drilling process study project funded by the Boeing Company. The objective of this project is to develop analytical tools and database to design drilling processes and tools for manufacturing industries.
Dr. Chen has published over 55 technical papers and fifteen reports since she joined CSULB. She is the coauthor of a book titled "Analysis of Low Speed Unsteady Airfoil Flows", which was published by Springer-Verlag in 2005. She has worked as a Principal Investigator in contracts totaling more than $260,000.
