Mr. Tom Jewett
Tom Jewett was part-time and full-time Lecturer in CECS from 1992 to 2007, teaching database design, web design, user interface design, social issues of computing, and many other courses. From 1996 to 2004, he served first as Editor and later as Chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computers and Society. Prior to coming to Long Beach, he had served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987. He has continued to lecture and consult commercially in the area of Web accessibility.
Mr. Jewett holds the BS in Music Education from the University of Illinois, the MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from U.C. Santa Barbara, and the MS in Systems Management from USC. He also studied toward the Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science at U.C. Irvine.
Personal interests include photography (three books published), travel (U.S. and Europe), woodworking (houseful of furniture), and cooking (study in Boulder and Paris).
