Dr. Lisa Star is an Assistant Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Management department at California State University, Long Beach. She has served as a faculty member since 2011. Before coming to CSULB, Dr. Star received her B.S. in Civil Engineering (2006), M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering (2007) and Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering (2011), all from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Star’s primary research interests are in geotechnical and earthquake engineering. Her research has involved: cyclic field testing of large-scale foundation-structure systems to evaluate soil-structure interaction effects, development of simplified system identification procedures, evaluation of synthetic ground motions for engineering use, and advanced laboratory testing of soils.
