James Stephenson Scholarship

The James Stephenson Scholarship will award two $2,500 undergraduate scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded to science majors with a verified learning disability on file at DSS and demonstrated financial need. The intent of the scholarship is to assist talented students who have the added challenge of overcoming learning and financial disadvantages.

James Stephenson is an alumnus with a B.A. in Biology (1964) who suffered from a learning disability himself, and would never have achieved the success he has (from pharmaceutical sales to founding an insurance brokerage firm) without the help and support of his instructors at CSULB.

  1. Verified learning disability on file at DSS AND demonstrated financial need;
  2. Declared major OR pre-major in the Department of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Physics & Astronomy, Geological Sciences, or Environmental Science & Policy, (B.S. Natural Science track);
  3. Currently enrolled at CSULB AND will be enrolled Fall 2016;
  4. Undergraduate student with a minimum cumulative and major GPA of 2.5 AND enrolled in 6 units or more.
