The Glenn M. Nagel Undergraduate Research Fellowship awards $1,000 to a declared undergraduate biological sciences or chemistry/biochemistry major in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to engage in undergraduate research with a CNSM faculty member.
This fellowship is awarded in honor of Dr. Glenn M. Nagel, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics during the years 1996-2003. Dr. Nagel was an outstanding scientist and during his time as a faculty member of Cal State Fullerton, was honored as an Outstanding Professor who mentored large numbers of undergraduate and graduate students. At CSULB he oversaw the development of the Molecular and Life Sciences Center and vigorously promoted undergraduate research. The Glenn M. Nagel Undergraduate Research Fellowship is inspired by Dr. Nagel's own life-altering undergraduate research experience. The Nagel Research Fellowship recognizes and supports an outstanding undergraduate engaged in research during the Fall 2016, Spring 2017, or Summer 2017 with a faculty member in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Applications are due Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 4:00pm. Submit completed applications via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The application period for 2016 has closed.
Selection will be made by a faculty committee convened by the Dean.
The recipient of the Glenn M. Nagel Undergraduate Research Fellowship will be recognized in an award ceremony held in the department of the student's major.
