For Incoming 2020 Science and Math Transfers

Welcome to California State University, Long Beach and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics! We are excited to help you achieve a smooth and successful start to your college career.

The following information is for incoming TRANSFER students who are majoring in science or math. Incoming freshmen should instead go to Guidance for Incoming Freshmen.

Out of an abundance of caution, guidance for incoming science and mathematics freshman, including academic advising and class registration, will be conducted online for Summer 2020.

Please note that your Virtual Academic Advising Appointment with your Assigned Faculty Advisor must be by June 26. Your Class Registration will be ONE WEEK BEFORE your scheduled Summer Orientation (SOAR) date.

Next Steps

New transfer students must complete the following online activities:

  1. Virtual Academic Advising with Assigned Faculty Advisor
    Your faculty advisor will contact you individually regarding advising appointment. Please make sure to provide all the required information, including information on the course you are currently taking at the community college. The advising must be completed ASAP and no later than June 26.
  2. Online Advising and Registration Course
    Access your Online Advising and Registration Course starting Thursday, May 28. This course provides an overview of your General Education and college-specific requirements, as well as an introduction to university policies and important academic resources. Log in to your BeachBoard account via Single Sign-On to begin this course. This must be completed ASAP and no later than June 26.
  3. Class Registration
    You will be able to register for classes 7 days prior to your scheduled SOAR workshop. We will provide technical help with registration via our Science and Math Transfer Registration Help Zoom Room, which will be available every day, July 6-10, 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm, for eligible students. More information can be found on the Course Registration Guide.
    Please be aware that you MUST complete steps 1-2 to ber able to register for classes.

Info Sessions for Transfer Students

We will host a number of transfer info sessions throughout the summer so that transfer students can learn more about the excellent programs and resources that the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) has to offer.
