Safari to Success

Save the Date: August 22, 2017

Science and Math Safari to Success is a FREE orientation program for students sponsored by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) at California State University Long Beach. The goal of the program is to help you feel connected to your college and introduce you to the different opportunities and resources we have available. During the day, you will also have the opportunity to connect with CNSM Peer Mentors, learn about our academic departments, and interact with the advisors and professional student support staff.

Who

Safari to Success is limited to incoming CNSM first-year students. Students living both on- and off-campus are encouraged to attend. Students living in the residence halls and attending Beach Days are required to attend.

When

Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 10:00am-5:00pm. Check-in begins at 9:00am.

The event will take place in front of the Hall of Science Building (HSCI), west end. Campus Map

Event Details

During this event, you will get a chance to network with your peers, meet staff and faculty in CNSM, and interact with the Peer Mentors, upperclass students who will serve as tutors and mentors for you throughout the year. Over lunch, there will be a resource fair where you can learn about the different offices, clubs, organizations, and services to support you through your first year at the Beach. The event will wrap up with a chance to learn more about the different majors in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and an opportunity to speak with your academic advisor.

Cost

There is no cost to attend the event. Students who have purchased a CSULB parking permit for the academic year will be able to park for free in designated spots. For students without a valid parking permit, you will be required to pay $8 per vehicle.

Parking

If you have a student parking permit for 2017-2018, park in any student space and your parking for this event will be free. If you don't have a parking permit, you are able to purchase a daily parking permit for $8 payable via cash or credit at the yellow paystations located on the edge of each lot. You may park in lots 1, 13, 16 or 18; all of these lots are accessible via Atherton Street or Bellflower Boulevard. Please see the Safari Parking Map for parking and event locations.
