CNSM First-Year Welcome
The CNSM First-Year Welcome 2020 has been canceled due to COVID-19.
CNSM First-Year Welcome is a FREE orientation program for students sponsored by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) at California State University, Long Beach. The goal of the program is to help you feel connected to your college and introduce you to the different opportunities and resources we have available. During the event, you will also have the opportunity to connect with CNSM Peer Mentors and faculty, learn about our academic departments, and interact with the advisors and professional student support staff. Get a jumpstart on your education with workshops on succeeding in your chemistry class, information for pre-health students, and class tours.
CNSM First-Year Welcome is limited to incoming CNSM first-year students, as well as Environmental Science and Policy B.S. students. Students living both on- and off-campus are encouraged to attend.
Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 9:00am-3:30pm (tentative).
Come for the entire event or just for the sessions that interest you most; you will be able to indicate your attendance for each portion of the event on the registration form.
The event will take place in the Hall of Science Building (HSCI), west end. Campus Map
During this event, you will get a chance to network with your peers, meet staff and faculty in CNSM, and interact with the Peer Mentors, upperclass students who will serve as tutors and mentors for you throughout the year. There will be a resource fair where you can learn about the different offices, clubs, organizations, and services to support you through your first year at the Beach.
Before lunch on August 19, there will be a variety of 1 hour workshops to choose from to help you get a jump on the beginning of your CNSM career. We will also host personalized class tours so bring your class schedules.
There is no cost to attend the event. Students who have purchased a CSULB parking permit for the academic year will be able to park for free in designated spots. For students without a valid parking permit, you will be required to pay $10 per vehicle.
Registration is not yet available.
If you have a student parking permit for 2019-2020, park in any student space and your parking for this event will be free. If you don't have a parking permit, you are able to purchase a daily parking permit for $10 payable via cash or credit at the yellow paystations located on the edge of each lot. You may park in lots G1, G3, G4, or G11; all of these lots are accessible via Atherton Street or Bellflower Boulevard. CSULB Parking Map
