Everyone loves a school field trip, right? Well, maybe. It can be a lot of work for the teacher and given budget restrictions and concerns related to mandated testing, a source of concern for administrators. Do kids really learn in these spaces? Are field trips worth all the extra time and effort? Join Dr. Jim Kisiel from the Science Education department here at CSULB on a journey through the Science Learning Center here on campus.Learn about science learning in these spaces and explore ways to rethink the traditional school field trip and create a more meaningful and connected science learning experience. LIMIT 30.

Join us for a fun evening of exploring the science of the shoreline and wonders of the waterfront. After engaging with coastal climate connections outside the classroom, we will explore the California coast using satellite images to make sense of surf breaks, coastal ecosystems, and human impacts. We shall explore opportunities for your future students to become coastal stewards while learning science and provide access to high quality teaching resources from the California Coastal Commision, NOAA, and USC-Sea Grant.
