Guest Lecture: “The Role of Jews and Hispanics in Reshaping the Racial Landscape of Southern California”

Screen Shot 2014-04-10 at 12.56.46 PMOn April 24, the Chicano and Latino Studies Program and the Jewish Studies Program will sponsor a guest lecture with Dr. George Sanchez, Professor of American Studies & Ethnicity, and History at USC.  This will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the Multimedia Center room 200. Dr. Sanchez’s lecture will address “The Role of Jews and Hispanics in Reshaping the Racial Landscape of Southern California.” This talk is made possible by a generous gift from Barbara and Ray Alpert.
Dr. Sanchez is an award-winning historian of Chicano history. In his talk, he will place the story of Jews and Boyle Heights into the wider context of the interracial and interethnic politics of Southern California. Dr. Sanchez is a dynamic and engaging speaker; please encourage your students to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
