Screen Shot 2014-03-04 at 11.56.21 AMOn March 12, the CSULB Jewish Studies Program will host a talk by Dr. Vincent Brook, a professor in UCLA’s school of Theater, Film, and Television. Entitled “Woody on Rye:  Jewishness in the Plays and Films of Woody Allen,” the talk will be at 7:30 pm, at the Alpert Jewish Community Center.
Although Woody Allen’s films have received extensive attention from scholars and critics, few have focused exclusively on Jewishness in his work. In his talk, Dr. Brook will offer a light-hearted look at Allen’s approach to Jewishness, the Jewish tradition, and Jewish New York as depicted in his plays and films.
The lecture series is free and open to the community; there is no need to reserve a space.
