Geriatric Social Work Education Consortium (GSWEC) 2016-2017

The Geriatric Social Work Leadership Internship provides specialized geriatric training and stipends for Older Adult and Family concentration graduate social work students who have satisfactorily completed their first year of field internship. The GSWEC Leadership Internship is a program of the Partners in Care Foundation (PICF) and was initially funded by grants from the John A. Hartford and Archstone Foundation. The PICF collaborates with the departments and schools of social work of CSULB, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angerles, CSU Northridge, CSU Dominguez Hills, USC, and UCLA to provide this unique training opportunity. Graduate Interns are placed at one of ten Centers of Excellence. These comprehensive social service agencies throughout Los Angeles County combine didactic leaning and practice interventions to train social work nterns to meet the challenges of geriatric social work leadership in the twenty-first century.
