If you have not yet completed an undergraduate degree, you must complete a bachelor's degree at CSULB, or other accredited undergraduate institution, prior to being admitted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program.
Undergraduates Seeking a Bachelor's Degree at CSULB
A CSULB Bachelor's degree in Biology with an option in Molecular Cell Biology and Physiology or Kinesiology with an option in Exercise Science are common among applicants to the DPT Program. The classes taken for the undergraduate degree are commonly the same as the prerequisite classes needed for applying to the DPT Program at CSULB.
We will consider any applicant that has completed their Bachelor's degree in any field of study. Majoring in another field is acceptable. The applicant may need to take extra classes outside of their major in order to meet all of the prerequisite classes requirements.
Undergraduates Seeking the Bachelor's Degree at institutions other than CSULB
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate institution is acceptable. You will need check the prerequisite courses required for admission to the DPT Program at CSULB against the courses you took at your institution to be sure they meet the requirements. Community College classes
A prospective student taking prerequisite classes at a Community College is acceptable. It is the responsibility of the prospective student to know if the classes taken at a Community College will meet the prerequisite requirements for admission to the DPT Program at CSULB. Anatomy and Physiology
Course work must have been taken within the last five (5) years prior to applying to the DPT Program at CSULB.
Other Prerequisite Courses
Course work must have been taken within the last ten (10) years prior to applying to the DPT Program at CSULB.
GRE scores must have been taken within the last five (5) years prior to applying to the DPT Program at CSULB.
