Mini Biography
Jan Schroeder, Ph.D. is the Department Chair and a full professor specializing in Fitness. The Fitness Option at CSULB has gained international recognition for its unique curriculum developed by Dr. Schroeder which is tailored to the fitness industry needs.
Dr. Schroeder’s expertise within the fitness industry is well-sought after as evidenced by her consulting role to many fitness professional organizations including IDEA, AFAA, ACE, and ACSM. Dr. Schroeder helps to develop curriculum for workshops and national certifying exams, writes articles, and conducts research projects as well as provides business counsel to these organizations. She is also a certified group exercise instructor, through AFAA and NASM and holder of 21 specialty certificates, who teaches weekly in the private sector.

Current Projects/Interests/Research
Dr. Schroeder’s current line of research specializes in trends within the fitness industry such as programming and equipment trends as well as compensation trends for fitness professionals. In addition, her interest is in the area of older adult fitness programming.
