Camp Nugget Brochure link to register for Camp Nugget 2015.The program is designed for children with special needs and disabilities ages 5 - 12 years. The child/staff ratio is four children to one staff member. It is the parent’s responsibility to provide an assistance with their child if their child requires intense one-on-one instruction (for example will run away from the group). A parent meeting will be held the first day of camp and the parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
Please read the brochure carefully to see if your child qualfies for the program and mail with your information to the adress provided on the registration form. this years prgram is June 22 to July 17, 2015 from 9:00 AM to Noon.
The Kinesiology Department (KIN) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) under the direction of Dr. Barry Lavay, Professor and Adapted Physical Education Credential Coordinator, offers a year round (fall, spring, and summer sessions) program of physical activity for children with disabilities. The program is offered to children ages 5 through 12 with disabilities and special needs. Provided is small group instruction (4-1 child/staff ratio) by university students studying in the KIN Department and working toward an Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential under the supervision of Dr. Barry Lavay. Camp activities include aquatics with swim instruction, instruction in fundamental skills and lead-up cooperative games, outdoor adventure course, and adapted sports. The program is four weeks long and begins usually the last Monday in June and continues through-out the first three weeks in July. Camp Nugget is offered Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $400.00. Registration usually begins in April and is on a first come for serve basis. See attached Brochure.
