Camp Nugget is designed for children with special needs and disabilities ages 5 - 12 years. The child/staff ratio is four children to one staff member. A parent meeting will be held the first day of camp and the parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

Please read the brochure carefully to see if your child qualfies for the program and mail with your information to the adress provided on the registration form.

This years program is June 20 to July 15, 2016 from 9:00 AM to Noon.

Camp Nugget provides small group instruction (4-1 child/staff ratio) by university students enrolled in the KIN Department who are studying to receive an Adapted Physical Education Teaching Credential under the supervision of Dr. Barry Lavay, CSULB Professor. Camp activities include aquatics with swim instruction, fundamental motor skills, health-related physical fitness, dance, lead-up cooperative games, and adapted sports. The 4 week program begins usually the last Monday in June and continues through-out the first three weeks of July. Camp Nugget is offered Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $400.00. Registration usually begins in early April and is on a first come for serve basis. Some full and partial scholarships are available based on need. The website provides a program brochure. Contact information campnugget@ymail.com or email Dr. Barry Lavay at blavay@csulb.edu

Camp Nugget Ratio 4 children to 1 staff member

The child/staff ratio is never more than four children to one staff member. It is the parents’ responsibility to provide a 1-1 assistant with their child if their child requires intense one-on-one instruction. This also includes the swimming portion of camp. For example if their child: (a) will run away from the group (b) has such a severe disability that he/she requires full-time physical assistance, including hand over on hand assistance at all times.
