Veronica Acosta-Deprez, Ph.D., C.H.E.S.

Dr. Veronica Acosta-Deprez is currently a Professor in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach She has an undergraduate degree in nursing from St. Louis University, Philippines, and a Masters and PhD degrees in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in educational technology and public health from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her professional and research interests,  in which she has several publications and presentations, are in the areas of curriculum design and development, program evaluation, issues of race, class and gender in health care and health education, international health, multicultural health education,  community-based participatory research,  program planning and evaluation, and emergency/disaster preparedness and management.

Dr. Acosta-Deprez has been recipient of independent as well as collaborative funded grants on program assessment and evaluation (Multi-unit Apartment Smoke-Free Policy, Long Beach Health Needs Assessment, Cambodian Air Quality, Environmental Justice) as well as research grants on health care access and community-based participatory research. Dr. Acosta-Deprez was also a recipient of a Health Resources Services Administration grant that produced a Bioterrorism and Disaster Preparedness Curriculum to train students as volunteers, staff, and managers in the event of a disaster.
