Didactic Program in Dietetics

The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at California State University, Long Beach is an undergraduate program that fulfills the academic requirements to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and skills to enable them to be eligible to apply to and to perform successfully in a dietetic internship upon graduation to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN). Students who wish to become an RDN must take a pre-defined program of study that includes a variety of subjects, ranging from food and nutrition sciences, food service systems management, business, computer science, culinary arts, sociology, and communication to science courses such as biochemistry, food science, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, and chemistry.orange

The DPD is granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education. It is the responsibility of the student to consult with the DPD Director to verify current requirements to become a registered dietitian nutritionist. The DPD at CSULB is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics(ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 800/877-1600.
