Statement of Professional Engagement:

Dr. Perez’s main areas of specialization are policing and delinquency and juvenile justice.  His most recent research has examined community policing strategies as well as the effects of childhood adversity on adolescent violent behavior. Dr. Perez primarily utilizes quantitative research methods to conduct his research.  Additionally, he is currently working as a project evaluator on a grant evaluating the effects of recent community policing efforts in the city of Long Beach.
