Wendy Thomas Russell and Jennifer M. Volland started Brown Paper Press in 2014 with a mission to engage readers on topics of contemporary culture through quality writing and thoughtful design.

The publishers will talk about the benefits and challenges of running a small Long Beach-based press amidst a rapidly changing industry.

Children in Juvenile Dependency:
Rights of the Family

Many relatives of children in the foster care system do not know that they have rights regarding these children. If you are a relative caretaker, an interested relative or close friend of a child in the system, join us for a  journey through the dependency process, stopping along the way to see if and where you might impact the outcome. This workshop is good for foster parents, social workers, care-providers, and other interested persons. 
Honorable Sherri Sobel, retired, has worked in the juvenile system as an attorney and bench officer for thirty years.

The Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project is dedicated to raising awareness of Korean history and culture. In appreciation for the United State’s support for Korea during the Korean War, KSCPP has held 1,100 presentations about the history and culture of Korea throughout the country.

May 5 - 1:00 - 2:30 Maestra; Education in Cuba
In 1961, Cuban illiteracy was rampant. So began a Cuban Literacy Campaign which is the theme of the documentary film, MAESTRA. View the film and join the discussion.
