Junior Mentoring Program

Junior Mentoring Program Graduates 2013201420152016

As students transition to junior status, there are many changes that will take place in their lives. The Junior Mentoring Program is a one-semester program where junior CBA students are paired with young professionals in a mentoring relationship. Mentors help students prepare for their college careers, sharing their skills, knowledge and advice on how to balance college, work and personal life. Focus is given to resume building and professional development activities that will better prepare the students for the job market and complement their academic learning experience.

Enrollment is limited to students who meet the following requirements:

“I have gained various skills in successful resume building, thanks to my mentor. I was also exposed to, and asked to use, several social media websites that I was not aware of. Finally, I think my professional demeanor, in general, greatly benefited from this program.” J.M., 2013 mentee

Mentoring Highlight

A mentor is defined as someone who teaches, gives help, gives advice to, imparts wisdom to, and shares knowledge with a less experienced, and often younger person. Having a mentor is invaluable. Thank you to all those who give back with the gift of mentoring.

Mentoring is featured in the CSULB Alumni Association - Beach Connection.

The JMP is also a great opportunity for young professionals to continue developing their resumes while giving back to their community and university. We invite our alumni, and recent alumni to consider the opportunity to connect with SCPD, CBA, and CSULB by mentoring a junior-level student.
