Bill joined CBA in 2014 as an associate professor of accountancy. He was an American Accounting Association Doctoral Consortium Fellow in 2005 and a Paul Merage School of Business Fellow at the University of California, Irvine, from 2000 to 2004. He served as the referee of Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Banking & Finance, JAAAF, Journal of Financial Stability (JFS), JFR, Quantitative Finance, and Review of Accounting and Finance, etc. As a sole applicant, he won a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) research grant for 2011-2014 and also served as a SSHRC reviewer in 2012-2018. In 2013, he was interviewed by Economia on topics related to bank regulation and the 2007-2009 credit crisis.
