ISAB Information Systems Advisory Board

VISION STATEMENT

The vision of the Information Systems (IS) Advisory Board is to become a resource of contemporary methods and trends in the information systems field. Strategic targets and milestones are created accordingly with initial objectives in the development of relevant structure, policy, and charter.

As a strategic board, it intends to provide continuous, forward-thinking input and guidance and act as a think tank. The board aims to ensure that the Information Systems Department remains continuously relevant and be of maximum value to the students and faculty.

MISSON STATEMENT

The core mission of the IS Advisory Board is as follows:

  • Ensure continuous relevance through high impact industry intelligence by way of concepts, best practices and methodology, and with value for all who utilize it;
  • Promote innovation with a progressive agenda by testing ideas and concepts with real companies;
  • Provide new channels for students to access mentorships and internships in the IS field, as well as communicating the local information technology (IT) and IS job market.

Emil , Richard

Richard Emil

Richard Emil serves as Vice President, Managed Services at Connection. Richard has a track record of success in building IT service organizations and go to market strategies to support large enterprise clients through small to medium business along with state/local/education clients. During his IT career he has been responsible for developing managed service portfolios, operational delivery standards, support practices, sales, project management, organizational design, and associated support methodologies. Specializations include infrastructure management, service desk, life cycle services as supported through the ITSM/ITIL framework.


Bhatt , Sunil

Sunil Bhatt

Sunil Bhatt has over 25 years of experience in the fields of Enterprise IT, Data Communications, Information Security and IT Infrastructure Solutions in various verticals such as Manufacturing, BFSI, Telco, Retail, and Government. During his career journey, Sunil was part of Core Management group in building ICT solutions and services, presenting it to the customers & investors and growing the business globally. His key strength is building innovative IT solutions using emerging technologies such as Cloud, IoT, AI and smart technologies.


Dankha , John

John Dankha

With over 30 years of experience in the IT workforce, John’s experience spans both the private and public sectors. He started and was the owner of a managed service provider IT consulting firm. He later moved into a Chief Information Officer role for various companies spanning a wide range of industries. He joined the City of Huntington Beach in September 2021 as a Senior Information Technology Manager and quickly advanced to Deputy Director of Administrative Services, and now serves as Chief Information Officer.

 

Prior to joining Huntington Beach, John worked for the City of Long Beach where he had the opportunity to work on a once in a lifetime project to build the IT infrastructure for the new Civic Center in downtown Long Beach, which included their City Hall, Port, and Central Library buildings. John was tasked with designing the Civic Center’s IT stack along with a new state-of-the-art Data Center. He managed the City’s two data centers and a cloud data center (IaaS). Managing the entirety of server farm, Mainframe, storage, back up infrastructure and application, DR/BC and 24X7 operations.


Le, Kathy

Kathy Le is an accomplished Information Security Leader who has launched information security programs for companies of various sizes. Kathy has more than 25+ years of security, cyber risk management, compliance, consulting, and leadership experience in the financial services, automotive, and manufacturing industries. She currently serves as Director of Information Security at Skyworks Solutions, a $17 billion semiconductor company whose analog devices leads the wireless network revolution, connecting people, places, and things around the world. Kathy leads the information security program, which includes global risk management, regulatory compliance, security governance, security awareness and training, insider risk and third-party risk management. She also spearheads privacy and data protection, data governance, incident response and recently expanded her scope to include cyber resilience.

Prior to joining Skyworks, Kathy was the Head of Information Security at AutoGravity, an automotive startup, and Director of Information Security at loanDepot, the largest non-bank lender in the United States. Kathy is a staunch advocate of women in cybersecurity; she frequently participates in Women in Cyber programs and college career panels to educate and elevate women in cybersecurity. She is a program advisor for the University of California, Riverside’s Women in Leadership Program.

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA and her MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business. She holds numerous certifications including the CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA and CRISC.


Phelps IV ,  Thomas

Thomas Phelps IV

Thomas Phelps IV is the CIO and VP of Corporate Strategy for Laserfiche, a global provider of intelligent process automation and enterprise content management software. He leads the Business Innovation and Technology organization, which includes Information Technology, Business Transformation Office, Product & Customer Support, and Governance, Risk & Compliance departments—along with data analytics, industry marketing, analyst relations and strategic alliances. Previously, Thomas was PwC’s national entertainment and media champion for cybersecurity.


Ury, Frank

Frank Ury

Frank Ury is an Orange County leader in Technology Operations, Sales and Business Development with a background in setting infrastructure and IT operations strategies and roadmaps. Having served for 12 years as a Councilmember and Mayor of the City of Mission Viejo, his technology career includes senior technology positions in many major companies, including DXC Technology, HP Enterprise Services, Intel Corporation and Black and Decker. he served on the Board for the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Big DataOpen Data Committee for the Southern California Association of Governments.
