Living Ethics Every Day, our annual ethics seminar offered in partnership with the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, is coming up on February 27, 2014, and it will be an amazing event. Mohamed El-Erian, Ph.D, is an articulate, amazingly bright, and insightful leader who heads a world-class organization, PIMCO. (Google him and watch a video of any of his talks, and you will understand my viewpoint.) Aaron Beam, who spent time in prison for securities violations occurring when he was CFO of HealthSouth, will also participate at the event.

In addition to being the keynote speaker for LEED, the Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership is honoring Dr. El-Erian with its 2014 Nell and John Wooden Ethics in Leadership Award.  The award will be presented following his presentation.  The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach from 7:15-9:45 a.m. on February 27, 2014.

Dr. Mohamed El-Erian is CEO and co-CIO of PIMCO, the $2 billion global investment management firm.  Under El-Erian’s leadership, PIMCO took the high road in 2007-2008 when other companies were making unethical investments that caused the economy to collapse.  El-Erian is a regular contributor to public debates through his writings, radio and television appearances, and newspaper interviews. He is often a commentator on CNBC and CNN.  His book, When Markets Collide, was a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Cambridge University and holds a master's degree and doctorate in economics from Oxford University.

The Living Ethics Every Day seminar will also feature a panel discussion about real-life ethical challenges faced by business leaders.  As one of the panelists, Aaron Beam, will provide an insider’s look at the collapse of HealthSouth Corporation and white-collar crime.

If you would like to attend on February 27, let me know and I will arrange a seat for you.  If you know anyone who might like to hear Mohamed El-Erian speak, please forward the flyer to them.  We are looking for event sponsors and would welcome your help in getting the word out.
