CBA Department Chair Appointments Complete
During spring semester, four CBA departments held chair elections, and I have completed appointments for the chair positions in these departments.
Judy Strauss has been reappointed Chair of the Management/HRM Department. Judy received great support from her departmental colleagues and will begin her second three-year appointment in the fall. Judy is dedicated to her department and its faculty, and I look forward to continuing to work with Judy.
Two first-time chairs will begin their appointments in the fall: Debra Grace will take over for Steve Fisher as Chair of the Accountancy, and Jasmine Yur-Austin will take over for Steven Le as Chair of Finance. As part of the process, I sit down with each candidate that is recommended by the departments to discuss the chair position, and I can assure everyone that these two chairs are dedicated to their departments, have vision for making their departments stronger, and are very capable and well prepared to do the job.
I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Mo Khan as Interim Chair of the Marketing Department. Mo’s years of experience as IS Chair, Associate Dean, and Interim Dean gives him a wealth of knowledge and understanding that make him an excellent candidate for the Interim Chair position. Even though Mo has finished his FERP, we are able to bring him back as a retired annuitant. A measure of Mo’s dedication and commitment to the CBA is his willingness to take on the Interim Chair position even though he could take complete advantage of his retirement for family and other pursuits.
I would also like to thank outgoing chairs Steve Fisher, Steven Le, and Ingrid Martin for all the hard work, management, and leadership that they have provided their departments during their terms as department chair. Steve Fisher served as chair for twelve years! I have enjoyed working with each of these chairs, and I thank them for being advocates for their departments while working for what is the best for the college.
