My name is Dassah Maketa and this is mybeach Experience:
Having the opportunity to meet new friends within my classes and meet new people with as much of a creative mind as I do when it comes to writing has definitely been a perk in my experience. Through the tough first two semesters when I first came to CSULB, I was able to push myself to limits I didn’t think were possible. Learning more about myself and being able to open up to new people has definitely been a highlight.
I chose CSULB for my major. Ever since starting community college in my hometown of Lincoln, CA I have always wanted to write and expand my knowledge of creative writing. Of course, I didn’t want to go to the local University either. I wanted to try my luck in a different city and hope for the best. I chose correctly, because not only have I been able to expand my knowledge, but I have been able to open my eyes to different aspects of what I truly want to do with my future.
With the knowledge gained from attending CSULB I hope to climb my way to the top of my own business that infuses my three passions: music, writing, and cooking. I have a general idea on how I want to start it and how I’d like to keep it going, but I know that I have a few more years of schooling ahead of me before I can really tackle my future.
Favorite Professor: Professor Jessica Brooks and Professor Dori Levy
Favorite Class: Non-Verbal Communications and Women in the Classical World
Favorite Spot on Campus: Starbucks at the USU
Activities and Organizations: These last few semesters I have gotten involved with The Law Society, Model United Nations, and Associated Students Inc. Through each organization I have established great friendships and created fun memories that I would not change for the world!
