My name is Crystal Garcia and this is myBeach Experience…
My Beach experience was completely rewarding, what I felt was most important about my college experience here at The Beach was to make sure that I made the most out of every occasion I encountered. In my first year of college I lived in the dorms and had the privilege of meeting many people.
It’s kind of funny because I remember having absolutely no idea where I wanted to go to college!! However, I knew I definitely was going to college…so with the help of my parents and one of my favorite High School teachers, Mrs. Gindi, I applied to a about five 4-year universities. I got into all of them but in the end, my decision came down to CSULB or SDSU. Then fate stepped in and it was magical because my brother happened to have a Tae-Kwon-Do competition inside of the Long Beach State Pyramid, and after visiting the campus with my family I knew CSULB was the place for me! :]
My time at Cal State Long Beach has provided me with so many opportunities. I have met so many wonderful people. At CSULB, I discovered what exactly I wanted to do with my life. I would not have been able to do this without the help of professors, friends, and advisors. Here at the Beach I was able to stay involved with campus events while working as a Program Consultant, with USU Program Council, there I met many great people who have helped me grow as an individual, particularly Program Council’s Advisor, Keya Allen-Littleton. In addition, while working as a supervisor at The Beach Fund for CSULB I was able to develop a strong sense of pride and knowledge of how great this institution really is, I feel very blessed to be graduating from such a prestigious university.
My plans after graduation involve getting a JOB! hahaha…I mean ideally I would like to work in media, particularly Broadcast Journalism. I am currently interning at KTLA News and I love the experience I am getting. A job fair here at school is the reason why I was able to get this internship opportunity and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities CSULB has presented me. I undoubtedly plan on staying connected to CSULB, and I am already an Alumni Association member, so I definitely will come back to CSULB for different events!! I am going to miss being a student at CSULB, I love the environment here, I know I won’t be able to stay away.
