What years did you work at LBSC?

I was a professor of Physical Education from 1960 through 1997. I served as gymnastics coach my first 13 years at LBSC, until 1973.

Why did you decide to work at LBSC?

Well right after I recieved my master's degree I started teaching junior high. I coached gymnastics there for a few years but I was interested in coaching at a higher level. So when there was an opening at LBSC I applied and I got the job. I enjoyed coaching both age groups. One of my students who I coached in junior high, Jim Fountaine, I recruited to LBSC . I couldn't have had a better job. I loved teaching and coaching.

What was one of your most memorable experiences while at LBSC?

In 1997 I was inducted into the the LBSU Athletic Hall of Fame. I was honored to be recognized. I remember traveling to other colleges in California and Arizona for meets. I had coached with four conference championship teams, one state championship team, and two all-americans. I could not have had a more enjoyable job.

Do you still stay connected to the university? If so, how?

Well I enjoy recieving the university publications, and I talk with former faculty. They are all in the Physical Education Department. Bill Husak, John McConnell, Bob Pestolesi, Andy Sinclair, Dee Sadly, Bob Wuesthoff, Mary Taylor. One of my best friends Tom Morgan and I we talked on the phone a couple of days ago, and we visit occasionally. Don Jennings, one of my students visited me recently as well.

What are you doing today?

I live in a retirement home in Lacey, Washington, by the state capital, near my two children. I golf occasionally, but only putting.

What would be one word to describe the campus/students/environment during the time you served?
