The 2015 Golden Graduates Celebration Committee is a group of alumni, faculty and staff who have volunteered to represent and assist with this year’s events. The committee is fully dedicated to serving their fellow graduates, faculty and staff who were part of the university between 1950-1965. Learn about what it means to them to be part of the program and what they are looking forward to for the 2015 Golden Graduates Celebration!
I have very fond memories of my time in college. I loved every day at LBSC--I never missed a day! I loved 49er Days, the long walks up from the Atherton Lot up to the Library and the lecture halls, and more. I am looking forward to the Class of 1965 50th Reunion.
Some of my fondest memories of LBSC were football games, 49er Days, Greeks, the Crew Team, and being named a Forty-Niner Award Winner (I still get free sports tickets with the gold student body card!).
The reunion offers me a rare chance to try and turn the clock back to a time when I was still pretty wet behind the ears and reminisce about some of the best days I had in my young adult years. Whether I run into people I knew then doesn't matter; I will see and talk to people who were there when I was and we can share a story or two about our classes, professors and the events we had fun attending. Long Beach State was a special place for me and I always get a charge when I come back to the campus.
As a former faculty serving on the Committee I have been able to renew acquaintances with former students who have returned for the event. I had the pleasure of enjoying time with Herb Farrar, one of my Baseball players of the 50's and Stan Guzy who is on the Committee this year.
I thought by being part of my 50 Year Reunion, this will be a great opportunity to reconnect with those I studied and worked with while at LBSC. This reunion should be exciting and fun - possibly a start of new friendships.
I have so much enjoyed being able to see the great progress the university has made and I am so proud to be a graduate of CSULB.
I have great memories of Long Beach State, especially my senior year since I was able to go to school without having to work. I was able to be very involved in school activities by pledging a fraternity and taking a major part in 49er Days. These days I return for sporting events and I look forward to the 2015 Golden Graduates Celebration.
