  • Identify various social media/online platforms to consider for targeted recruitment efforts

Developing Effective Culturally Relevant Interventions

Dr. Harawa will discuss key considerations and strategies to ensure that health-related interventions are relevant to and resonate with the population of interest. 

At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will  be able to:

  • Describe why is it important to ensure that sexual health interventions are culturally responsive;
  • Discuss how to determine what cultural elements may be most relevant to their intervention targets;
  • Describe how to present culturally relevant elements in a NIH proposal.

CHER Institute Webinar: Innovation in NIH Reviews: The Population, Approach, or Both

This event will include a video presentation by Dr. Bluthenthal, which will be available to participants 1 week prior to the webinar. Additional information and questions from event participants will be addressed during the 1-hour webinar. Dr. Bluthenthal will discuss his online video on the mechanics and culture of the NIH review process, and the relative importance of innovation in grant applications. 

Participants will:

  • Become familiar with the basics of the proposal review process and review criteria.
  • Learn strategies for strengthening the innovation section.
  • Have an opportunity to pose questions to an experienced NIH funded researcher.

CHER Institute Webinar: Components of a NIH Application and Review Process

This event will include a video presentation by Dr. Bastani available to participants 1 week prior to the webinar. Additional information, and questions from event participants will be addressed during the 1 hour webinar.   

Participants will:

  • Become familiar with the mechanisms and submission process for NIH research funding applications.
  • Identify strategies to facilitate the review process.
  • Have an opportunity to pose questions to an experienced NIH researcher and reviewer.
