Summer Workshops

The CSULB Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) was proud to collaborate with the CSULB Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and the CSULB BUilding Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) Program over the summer to bring two instructive workshops to CSULB faculty and staff.

CHER Welcomes New Interns

CHER welcomed three new interns this summer: Asha Moor, Jorge Navarro, and Stephanie Sumstine. In the coming months, they will assist faculty and staff with literature reviews, data collection and entry, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and proposal and manuscript development.

CHER Awarded PPOWER Project

CHER recently received a three-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to fund the Peer Promotion of Wellness and Enhanced Linkage to Care (PPOWER) Project.

Interns Gain Research Experience

Five student interns from the Departments of Health Sciences, and Health Care Administration worked with CHER staff during the fall 2015 semester, gaining valuable experience in health equity research and program implementation.

CHER at APHA 2015

The 143 annual meeting of the American Public Health Association (APHA) was held in Chicago, Oct. 31 to Nov. 4. CHER staff members were there to present findings from recent work.
