Our Accomplishments

CHER was awarded a 5-year $5 million grant from the National Institute on Minority Health Disparities (Research Infrastructure in Minority Institutions - RIMI) to build infrastructure at CSULB through mentoring faculty and students in health disparities research.

Twenty-one faculty members from 14 departments were supported by RIMI to conduct independent research. Faculty were subsequently awarded 3 extramural grants (~$1mil).

RIMI Faculty Fellows and leadership staff published 25 manuscripts and conducted 61 scientific presentations. Four faculty fellows received tenure and promotion, which they attribute directly to RIMI support.

Twenty graduate students from 11 departments participated in the RIMI Health Disparities Research Health Scholars Program and completed 16 conference poster presentations.
