RECENT and ONGOING ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) is an academic center on the California State University, Long Beach campus focused on community-based, health equity, health disparities, and minority health research. CHER has been in existence for approximately 21 years. Over the past two decades, the Center has garnered approximately $21 million dollars in research funding.

Recently CHER was awarded a second grant from the Tobacco-Related Diseases Research Program, to explore nicotine exposure resulting from the mixture of tobacco and marijuana, typical of certain marijuana use methods such as blunt smoking among marijuana-using young Black men.
